形態特徵

Medium-sized evergreen trees to 15 m high; trunks 0.3 m across, crooked or straight; branches grayish, glabrous, with minutely lenticels; branchlets with dark brown stellate hairs.
Leaves ovate, elliptic, oblong or lanceolate, often obliquely ovate-elliptic, 6.5–16 cm long, 2.7–6.2 cm broad, coriaceous, acute to acuminate at apex, rounded, obtuse-acute, slightly cordate to acuminate at base, entire to few-serrulate or aristate-serrulate, glabrous on both sides, sparsely stellate-tomentose on midrib; midrib, veins and veinlets grooved above, prominently elevated beneath, lateral veins 7–16 pairs, often forked; petioles glabrescent to tomentose, 0.6–1.7 cm long.
Cupules cup-shaped, 8 mm long, 1 cm across; scales in many series, triangular, imbricate, appressed-hirsute outside, appressed sericeous-hirsute inside; nuts elongate-ellipsoid, 2.2 cm long, 1.1 cm across, apiculate at apex, rounded at base, glabrous.

台灣 : At altitudes of 1,500 to 2,600 m throughout the island.
